Activities take place throughout the Rouge River Watershed

Rouge Rescue is our annual clean up event held on the first Saturday in June.  Various events take place throughout the Rouge River watershed on this day. Activities vary by site and may include nature walks, school or church yard clean-ups, tree planting projects, native wildflower plantings, neighborhood litter pickup, and more in addition to stream clean up projects.

Rouge Rescue volunteer opportunities:

1 – Become a Site Coordinator:  Site Coordinators coordinate and manage individual Rouge Rescue sites. They work with FOTR to determine activities and equipment needed, help to recruit volunteers and volunteer groups, promote the event with local media, pick-up and return equipment, and are responsible for documenting site activities including registering volunteers and making sure to return this documentation to FOTR.  Volunteers interested should have participated in a Rouge Rescue activity in the past.  Please call Cyndi Ross at (313)792-9621 for more information.

2 – Become a Site Supporter:  Volunteers help Site Coordinators by helping with volunteer registration or site activities on the day of the event.  If you are thinking about becoming a Site Coordinator, this is a great way to test the water!

3 - Tools/Supplies Assembly:  Assist Friends of the Rouge staff with sorting equipment and preparing supplies for each distribution to Site Coordinators.  If you have a few hours to spare in mid to late May we could really use the help!  Call Cyndi Ross at 313 792-9621 for more information.

4 – Participate in Rouge Rescue on June 7th!
